In May, UWinnipeg commerce student Hartley Rogers won top prize in a national competition. “Marketing Idol” is run by Equals6, the professional social network for students. Equals6 student members tackle real-world business challenges. Rogers, who won $1,200, says it is about more than prize money. “I enjoyed the learning experience of taking on a business challenge and coming up with a creative solution.”
In January, Abhilash Tyagi, Geneviève Coulombe, Matt Friesen, Kevin Gooch, and Shantel Saliga placed second in the 30th annual Manitoba International Marketing Competition, the largest of its kind held in Canada for business students. This year’s competition included teams from Mexico, Brazil and Ghana.
Business and Economics is the fastest growing Faculty at UWinnipeg, breaking down barriers between traditional management disciplines and exposing students to a wider range of study than at most business schools.
