Panel on Research Ethics Launches the TCPS 2 Tutorial
The Interagency Advisory Panel on Research Ethics is pleased to announce the launch of a new, online tutorial, TCPS 2: Course on Research Ethics (CORE). CORE was designed to support the Canadian research communitys implementation of the 2nd edition of the Tri-council Policy Statement: Ethical Conduct for Research Involving Humans (TCPS 2) released in December, 2010.
All faculty
involved in human participatory research, and particularly those who serve on
departmental ethics committees, are strongly encouraged to complete
the new online tutorial. The Senate Committee on Ethics in Human Research and
Scholarship (SCEHRS) will provide further outreach activities during the
upcoming academic year in order to familiarize the UW research community with
new policies and guidelines found in the TCPS 2.

Submission Deadlines and Meeting Dates 2011-2012
The deadline for Full Review submissions to be considered at each meeting of the SCEHRS is normally set for two weeks (10 working days) in advance of the meeting date. This allows sufficient time for distribution of copies and for committee members to read proposals. Submissions received after a deadline, but before the associated meeting, will not be reviewed until the subsequent meeting. To avoid delays, please ensure that your submission is complete, all ethical issues have been addressed fully, and your Departmental Ethics Committee has had sufficient time to complete its review so that you can deliver your submission to the Research Office by the deadline.
The complete submission, including proposal, checklist, one electronic copy and the original document with all necessary signatures, must reach the Research Office by 4:00 p.m. on the deadline date in order to be reviewed at the scheduled meeting. Delegated (formerly Expedited) minimal-risk reviews may be submitted anytime and require one electronic copy and the signed original, as above.
