Policies and procedures that must be followed by all University of Winnipeg faculty and student researchers conducting research using vertebrate animal subjects.

List of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) (PDF)

As per the revised UACC Policies and Procedures, SOPs are now required for all procedures included in the applicationsubmission. Currently, our SOPs are undergoing review, but we have included the List of SOPs below foryour reference. Once the SOPs are approved we will ensure that SOP binders are available in the animal complexes. Where an SOP is not available, the researcher will need to create a new one and include it with the submission.

Provides detailed description of requirements for all animal-based research. Faculty and students intending to conduct animal-based research must provide descriptions of how their research meets the CCAC requirements as part of their applications.

UNIVERSITY ANIMAL CARE COMMITTEE (UACC)
SUBMISSION DEADLINES AND MEETING DATES
2013-2014

The deadline for protocol submissions to be considered at each meeting of the UACC is normally set for two weeks (10 working days) in advance of the meeting date. This allows sufficient time for distribution of copies and for committee members to read proposals. Submissions received after a deadline, but before the associated meeting, will not be reviewed until the subsequent meeting. To avoid delays, please ensure that your submission is complete, all ethical issues have been addressed fully, and your Departmental Ethics Committee has had sufficient time to complete its review so that you may make copies and deliver your submission to the Research Office by the deadline.

For student applications, 2 COPIES, including the original with all necessary signatures and one electronic copy of the completed Application to Use Vertebrate Animals for Research or Teaching, must reach the Research Office by 4:00 p.m. on the deadline date in order to be reviewed at the scheduled meeting.


Faculty applications must be submitted through WebGrants by 4:00 pm on the deadline date in order to be reviewed at the next scheduled meeting."
