Dragana Majhen, Master of Arts Religious Studies
Graduation 2009
While studying East Asian history, and deeply impressed by long-lasting Chinese tradition, Dragana Majhen learned that early Ming China was a most progressive society of the time. She has focused her attention on the Neo-Confucian philosophy found in the Ming dynasty of the 15th and 16th centuries, specifically on the work of Wang Yangming and syncretic philosophical ideology. Debate about the importance of separating of church and state continues and Majhen feels the application of her research will be multifaceted in todays age of religious pluralism and religious rights. She aspires to a doctorate focusing on religious syncretism: the blending of unrelated or even disparate beliefs into one religious tradition.
