High-quality research is an integral part of academic life at The University of Winnipeg. What is particularly significant is the breadth of research opportunities afforded to our undergraduate students who are able to gain a depth of experience unparalleled in the country. Those research opportunities are expanding as The University of Winnipeg takes on a leadership role in environmental education with construction of the new Richardson College for the Environment and Science Complex. Research opportunities with a strong focus on international policies are also enhanced as we are now one of the few places in Canada offering a Masters degree in Aboriginal Governance and a Bachelor of Arts The Province of Manitoba is proud to be a strong supporter of post-secondary education in our province. At The University of Winnipeg, a key part of student education is being involved in research with the faculty, beginning at the undergraduate level.

The University of Winnipeg is home to a diverse group of students, who bring different perspectives to the research being performed at the institution. The Province of Manitoba has supported a number of cutting-edge research Diane McGifford, Ph.D. Minister of Advanced Education and Literacy degree in Human Rights and Global Studies. The University has embarked on a major drive to extend its academic excellence by promoting graduate programs that now also include a Master of Science in Applied Computer Science and Society, Master of Science in Bioscience, Technology and Public Policy, and a Master of Arts in English with a Focus on Cultural Studies. The University of Winnipeg is an innovative and flexible centre for excellence in emerging and established academic fields, and most importantly, a place that puts students first.
