Graduate Teaching Fellowship

Amount

Funding amounts are determined, in part, by available funding and the number of qualified applicants.

I.     Funding is typically for a full-year teaching fellowship. Partial fellowships for a single term may also be awarded
 
II.     Students are normally eligible to apply for the equivalent of two full fellowships during their graduate career as an MA student

Eligibility

I.     Students must be enrolled in the Joint Masters Program in Religion

II.    Awards will be granted on the basis of academic merit, as well as the ability to perform the duties outlined below

Responsibilities*

Student responsibilities will include some of the following:

I.     teaching assistance

II.    tutoring and advising students with respect to course work and assignments

III.   evaluating teaching support

IV.    undertaking research relating to curriculum development

V.      performing other activities relevant to professional development

* Successful applicants will provide teaching assistance in courses offered through the Department of Religion and Culture at the University of Winnipeg. Successful applicants will be expected to attend lectures as appropriate, hold scheduled office hours on campus, and meet regularly with the course instructor to which the teaching fellow is assigned.

Application Procedure

There is no application form.

Applicants should submit the following materials:

I.     copy of academic transcripts (unofficial copy acceptable)

II.    a cv and brief application letter outlining areas of competence in which you could serve as a teaching assistant (please identify any other sources of external funding for graduate education)

Application Deadline(s)

I.     The deadline is June 1st for fellowships beginning in September of the upcoming academic year.

II.    Winter term applications may also be received depending on available funds. Potential applicants should inquire about winter term funds by December 1st.
