Course Drop Information

Dropping courses BEFORE classes begin

You may drop a class using WebAdvisor, without any fee penalties, prior to the start of the term. Within WebAdvisor go to the Register/Drop Course or the Manage My Wait List screen to drop (delete) your class or classes. Please remember to wait for the Registration Results screen before logging out of WebAdvisor. (Please note that payment for all the courses you are taking is due by the first day of classes.)

Dropping courses AFTER classes begin

After classes begin, you may still use WebAdvisor to drop a course, but please be aware of important deadline dates:

During the "Course Add/Drop Period," you will be eligible to receive a refund.

After the "Course Add/Drop Period," you may continue to use WebAdvisor to drop courses without academic penalty - up until the Final Academic Drop Date -  but there will be no refund.

See Withdrawal/Drop Schedule for the specific deadline dates for each Term.

If you prefer not to use WebAdvisor, you may drop a course(s) either in-person, by letter or by facsimile. Notification by telephone will not be accepted. The same Withdrawal/Drop Schedule applies. Requests to drop a course made by letter or fax will be effective on the date received.

Students who drop courses with labs in Biology or Chemistry must submit a Course Drop form signed by the instructor or the lab instructor. Course drop forms are available in the department or in the Student Records Office/Student Central.

IMPORTANT:
Ceasing to attend classes does not constitute a course drop. Failure to follow correct course drop procedures may result in a failing grade and a loss of tuition fee credit. Students may drop without academic penalty from a course at any time before the published final academic drop date applicable to the course.

Complete Withdrawal from the University

Students who wish to withdraw from all their courses after the start of lectures but before the final drop date must go to the front counter of the Student Records Office, located on the first floor of Graham Hall. Please refer to the Withdrawal/Drop Schedule. Students who withdraw from courses with labs in either Biology or Chemistry must submit a Course Drop form signed by the instructor or the lab instructor. Course Withdrawal forms are available in the Department or in the Student Records Office/Student Central. You must return your Student ID/Library Card to the Student Records Office staff. If you are unable to withdraw from your courses in-person, you can write or send a fax to the Student Records Office (please see "Key Contacts"). Notification by telephone will not be accepted. The complete withdrawal will be effective on the date received.
