- Father of a 16 year old boy and a 13 year old girl
- Over twenty-five years experience in the fields of crisis/suicide intervention prevention and Family Violence Prevention/ Intervention including, street level crisis/suicide, and helping to develop and facilitate the first men’s violence intervention/prevention groups in Manitoba and co-founding the EVOLVE family violence program.
- Took a lead role on the development and delivery of Manitoba Corrections partner abuse program and was the principle staff trainer, for Manitoba Corrections, for 14 years on Family Violence, the focus was working with men.
- Also worked on the development and delivery of the early sexual offender programs in Manitoba Corrections.
- Took a lead role, at Manitoba Corrections and inter-departmentally, in the development of Cross Cultural approaches to Family Violence prevention and intervention through the coordination of Services to Immigrants on Probation Project, the Multicultural Partner Abuse Prevention Program and the Manitoba Cross-Cultural Coalition for Violence Prevention.
- Presently working with Manitoba Immigration and Multiculturalism as a Community Wellness Specialist. My focus is the settlement and adaptation of refugees and immigrants both initial settlement for refugees and ongoing psychosocial settlement. This includes development, coordination and support for programming and projects that address positive relationships, healthy families and safe communities for newcomers.
- On the executive of the Manitoba Association of Family Violence Workers
- Developed and delivered many community, agency, school and media
- Presentations/workshops/interviews on issues including prevention and intervention in the area of Family Violence, gender analysis, violence prevention, cross cultural approaches, crisis intervention and related areas.
- Co-Founder on the Manitoba Men’s Network a network that worked with and organized with men on issues ranging from men’s violence, support groups, political action supporting an end to men’s violence and a challenge to traditional manhood roles.
- Manitoba Board Member for White Ribbon Campaign, a national campaign commemorating the women victims of Dec. 6 and working to end men’s violence, through the 1990’s.
Board Member, RESOLVE since the inception of the original Centre at U of M, until 2003.
