OmniTRAX/Broe Quest Series
Eugene Ansu
Born in Ghana, Eugene Ansu is pursuing a Bachelor of Arts in Economics at the University of Winnipeg. He transferred from Singapore in 2003 after completing an Advanced Diploma in Computer studies.
His experiences from living in a developing country (Ghana), a newly industrialized country Singapore and developed countries like Australia and Canada have allowed Eugene to look at the world from different lenses. His work as the Vice President of the Ghana United Nations Students’ Association was his first exposure to the struggles of the African Community and the bases of his ambition to help eradicate the suffering of his people. These experiences encouraged him to “be the change and not ask for the change.”
Ansu has been hosting, producing, and directing a radio show “Zion Train” with Charlotte Kudadirgwa every Thursday from 2:00 p.m. – 3:00 p.m. on CKUW 95.9 FM since 2004. The show is to discuss African issues that affect its people within the continent and abroad and serves as the platform for African youth to tell their own story.
Ansu also hosts another radio show called Forward March, which is an Afro-Caribbean reggae show that many Caribbean’s and Africans enjoy listening to on Sunday evenings from 8:00 p.m. -10:00 p.m. also on CKUW.
Ansu will also be coordinating the International Resource Centre from September 2005-2006 and hopes to improve on the welfare of international students like him this coming year.
Today, Ansu will be giving a presentation with Charlotte Kudadirgwa on their perspectives of war in Africa as youths who come from non-war affected countries.
