Session Description:

Breakout Session 1 (Friday) /
Breakout Sessions 2 and 3 (Saturday):
Redefining Creativity

Dabrowski (1971) has argued that a vibrant, contented and fulfilling life is the ultimate expression of one's creative ability. Looking into the works of earlier theorists, Jung wrote that creativity represents, and is borne from, a connection to a deeper spirituality, representing the wholeness of being (1955). Adopting a confluence approach (Sternberg and Lubart, 1997) it is possible to draw from the work of many behavioral scientists to develop an understanding of creativity that is most dynamic and useful for at-risk children. This session will attempt to redefine the term creativity in hopes of better serving at-risk children with a new language of resilience, self-efficacy, and learning.
