Manager, Climate Change and Energy

Jo-Ellen Parry currently works as a Manager in IISD’s Climate Change and Energy strategic objective, assisting with the coordination of the Institute’s various climate change activities. At present she serves as Network Coordinator for the Climate Change Knowledge Network and the KyotoSmart Network, and takes the lead on the Institute’s climate change work in the Arctic. ’s final report. She was involved with the establishment of Manitoba’s Public Engagement and Outreach Hub and contributed to the delivery of a conference on continental energy issues.

Previously, she provided analysis and information support services for the Secretariat of the Manitoba Climate Change Task Force, liaised with members of the Task Force Secretariat and the provincial government Working Group and wrote and edited portions of the Task Force.

Parry began her work at IISD in the Natural Resources strategic objective, where she was involved with the management and delivery of two projects that explored the use of appreciative inquiry in community development activities. These projects were undertaken in co-operation with Skownan First Nation, located in central Manitoba, and MYRADA, based in Bangalore, India.

Prior to joining IISD, Parry worked with a local NGO to facilitate and analyse public deliberation forums on globalization for Manitoba youth. She has also held several research positions with various academic, NGO and private organizations, and has worked internationally in Ghana and Pakistan. She holds a Master of Environmental Studies degree from York University specializing in community-based resource management, and a Bachelor of Science in Environmental Science from the University of Manitoba.
