Recent Accomplishments

Nothing to SSHRC at!

The Politics Department SSHRC Committee continues to do a wonderful job in helping our students prepare their applications for the SSHRC/Joseph-Armand Bombardier CGS (Canada Graduate Scholarship) Master’s Award.  With only two of these awards available university-wide every year, our students have succeeded in obtaining a remarkable number of them:

2009:  Owen Toews and Alexander Gunn

Politics Faculty News

Politics Prof Awarded SSHRC Funding
Dr. Malcolm Bird recently received SSHRC funding to pursue his research on: “Revisiting the Crowns: Institutional Change & Canadian Public Enterprise in the Post-Neoliberal Era”.  

Politics Prof Elected to CPSA Board
Dr. Shannon Sampert was recently elected as a member of the Board of Directors of the Canadian Political Science Association.  Her term begins in June, 2013.  

Politics Faculty Appointed as Chair of JSC
Dr. Joan Grace was appointed Chair of the Joint Senate Committee on Joint Masters’ Programs (with the U of M). Her term runs from 2012 to 2015.

Politics Law Instructor Wins Award
Allison Fenske (Thompson, Dorfman, Sweatman), who teaches about the Canadian Legal System for us, recently won the Manitoba Bar Association’s Pro Bono Award.
