The Oral History Centre at the University of Winnipeg was established in 2012. The Centre will launch its website in early 2013. In the meantime, please "like" us on Facebook or follow us on Twitter to learn about ongoing events. To give you an idea of what the Oral History Centre can do for you, we have provided some content including resources, a syllabus exchange, and interview excerpts.

This is an interactive website: We invite you to comment on the various parts of this website. To add your own syllabus to the syllabus exchange, please email it in PDF-format to oralhistorycentre@gmail.com (not only for higher education, but also for K-12 and other educational settings). To post your own interview excerpts, please email them to oralhistorycentre@gmail.com.

Oral History Centre Grand Opening - May 7, 2013 at 5:00 pm

The University of Winnipeg invites you to celebrate the exciting  grand opening of the Oral History Centre (OHC) on Tuesday, May 7, 2013, at 5:00 pm, second floor Bryce, 515 Portage Ave.

Oral History is grounded in local knowledge and is connected to global experiences.  As a method of exploring the past, oral history builds people’s capacity to appreciate the complexities of history, to critically evaluate the role of history in society, and, perhaps most importantly, to participate in the making of history. Officially founded April 26, 2012 by the University Senate, The Oral History Centre is a signature element of the H. Sanford Riley Centre for Canadian History and is supported by generous donors through The University of Winnipeg Foundation.
