Overview
The Masters in Development Practice program is an innovative professional degree offered by a network of 24 leading universities around the world. At the University of Winnipeg, the MDP uniquely combines academic and practical aspects of development with a focus on Indigenous Peoples.
MDP students spend two years immersed in all aspects of Indigenous development, knowledge, and practice while completing 54 credit hours of courses and two field placements, including an international placement. Course work covers the four core areas of study (natural sciences, social sciences, management and health sciences) for all MDP programs within the global network plus our own signature core area – that of Indigenous development.
Our graduates are ideally suited for working with communities, industry, government and civil society organizations. In addition to building the knowledge and skills needed by development practitioners, the MDP program fosters relationship-building, participatory development practices, cross-cultural understanding, and effective team work.
