The Indigenous Global Context

UWinnipeg's MDP program offers students the opportunity to work with prominent universities and institutions in the field of Indigenous studies and sustainable development. The MDP network provides exposure to an extensive scope of institutional settings, humanitarian organizations, research centers, government agencies, and grassroots movements that are diverse and transnational in nature.

Your MDP experience will include coursework that involves field placements within local, provincial, national and global communities, giving you first-hand experience working with Indigenous peoples on project implementation and evaluation.

During your academic year, you will develop and deepen your relationships with UWinnipeg and our partners through our 'global classroom' and by building strong community connections.

Additional field practicum opportunities will become available as we continuously build partnerships with other universities, organizations and institutions. The following organizations are currently UWinnipeg's established MDP partners.

The Assembly of First Nations

The Assembly of Manitoba Chiefs

Fisher River Cree Nation

Ka Ni Kanichihk Inc.

Ma Mawi Wi Chi Itata Centre

The Treaty Relations Commission of Manitoba
