MDP @ UWinnipeg
The MDP program is designed as a two-year full-time program consisting of course-work and field placement experiences, based on relationship-building for both the student and faculty cohorts for each year of study. Course work covers the four core areas of study (natural sciences, social sciences, management and health sciences) for all MDP programs within the global network plus our own signature core area – that of indigenous development.
The MDP Network of 24 other universities is sharing resources, guest lecturers and, where possible, the network may even share course delivery. With the MDP program, we are also providing a model for the creation of additional professional degree programs based on the strong practical components of the MDP; that is, the learning-by-doing and the facilitation of community development particularly by and with Indigenous people.
