Are You a UW Student Who Really Wants to Study Abroad?

The world is your oyster, if you are a University of Winnipeg student interested in studying abroad at a university that is not part of our Exchange Network. As long as the institution is recognized by UW and you are admitted, you may take courses and transfer them back in for credit to be applied towards your degree.

The first step should be to research places, universities, and programs that may be of interest. Explore university websites, browse through course offerings, check to see if universities offer special 'Visiting Student' programs. Second and most important step: Make a list of courses and speak with an Academic Advisor to see how they would apply towards your degree. Some students go abroad with the understanding that all of their coursework may not fullfil major requirements, so they take elective courses abroad. Plan ahead!

Do you have a friend from another university who studied abroad? You may be able to join another Canadian or American university's established exchange program. Check it out!

If you would like to discuss your options, feel free to drop into International Student Services. We'd be glad to help!
