International Student Services at The University of Winnipeg offers a variety of services to UWinnipeg international students:

  • Course Selection & Registration (Advising) to help you choose and follow your own educational path, while making sure that you understand the objectives and requirements of your undergraduate degree.
    • Assistance includes: degree planning, choosing your courses, and interpreting regulations and requirements. Drop-ins available, however appointments are recommended. (Drop-in hours: Monday, 14:00-15:30; Tuesday, 14:00-15:30; Thursday, 9:00-10:30)
  • International Student Orientation Activities: a series of events designed to give new international students the guidance they need to get started on the right foot. Orientations run in September, January, and April/May.
  • Sociocultural Events and Activities are offered to all international students at The University of Winnipeg. These include outings to special Winnipeg events, potluck meals, trips outside of the city, tours of historic buildings, volunteering opportunities and more. Students are encouraged to register for events to ensure their spot is reserved.
  • Monthly E-Newsletter updating International Students with important academic information, upcoming ISS events, community events, CIC information, and a monthly quiz!
  • Mentorship Program: Are you new to The University of Winnipeg? Do you need some help making the transition to a new school or new city? Sign up for the Mentor Program and be matched with an experienced student who can help you learn about University life.
  • The International Student Centre: Located in 1S09, The International Student Centre is a space for international students to hang out, study, have fun and meet other students. It is equipped with couches, computers, a television with cable t.v., a DVD player, a fridge, a microwave, a coffee maker, and a kettle. This space is available during business hours to students and may be requested for after-hours events by contacting ISS at iss@uwinnipeg.ca.
    • Students can use the computers for assignments, completing CIC applications, checking mail, or accessing social networking sites. Students using the computers must adhere to The University of Winnipeg Acceptable Computing Use policy and other related policies apply to the use of these computers.
  • Library Research Consultations: Meet with Librarian, Michael Dudley, for consultations on research options through The University of Winnipeg Library. He can be reached at m.dudley@uwinnipeg.ca or by phone at 204.982.1145. He will be available for drop-in assistance at International Student Services Thursdays at 11:00 am.
