Incoming Exchange Student

Students from partner universities can enrol in The University of Winnipeg as “Exchange Students” for one or two terms. 

The deadline for partner universities to nominate students for Fall or Winter entrance is February 1.  Application and materials must be received by February 15.

Academic Options

If your home institution approves, you may enrol in most Areas of Study at The University of Winnipeg.

Required Documents

1. A completed Visiting Student Application [PDF]
   NOTE:  You do not have to pay the Application Fee; it is waived for Exchange Students.
   
   If you are from Latin America or the Caribbean, you may qualify for a scholarship.  See Emerging Leaders in the Americas Program (ELAP)
   
   
2. Letter of Permission from the home institution that approves each course to be taken at The University of Winnipeg.  Please include alternative courses, in the event that your first choices are full or unavailable, or if you do not meet the pre-requisites. See Letter of Permission [PDF]
   
   
3. Official copy of your university transcript(s).
   
   
4. Proof of English language proficiency
   
   
5. Housing Contract (if desired).  See Campus Living.   

Next Steps

1. Official Acceptance Packages will be sent to the home university by early April.  Using the login information included in the package, you should log into your University Webmail and WebAdvisor, our online registration system, for updates and information.
   
   
2. Registration statements will be sent to the University email when complete.
   
   
3. Register for airport pickup at Airport Pickup and for the New Student Orientation as soon as possible.
