"Let no one be discouraged by the belief there is nothing one person can do against the enormous array of the world's ills, misery, ignorance, and violence. Few will have the greatness to bend history, but each of us can work to change a small portion of events. And in the total of all those acts will be written the history of a generation." (Robert Francis Kennedy, 1925-1968)
Learn how each of us can shape human rights policy, affect international agreements and participate in positive change on a global level. Join us for the conference of the year, Human Rights and Social Justice: Setting the Agenda for the UN Human Rights Council.
To develop and sustain a global human rights strategy for change will depend upon the active participation of an informed and engaged society. The Human Rights and Social Justice forum will lead interactive dialogue to shape policy, affect international agreements and increase awareness of three major human rights issues that demand notice and representation: war-affected children, gender rights and the rights of indigenous people. Individuals can make a difference and can change history.
February 23-25, 2007, the University of Winnipeg Global College and its partnering organizations will host this remarkable assembly of national and international academics, government representatives, NGO leaders, witnesses and advocates in the human rights arena to frame a proactive approach to the education and awareness of these major human rights issues. The conference workshops and panels will demonstrate how we can work together to influence and set the agenda for the UN Human Rights Council.
As a culturally diverse city, rich in history and renowned for setting global human rights standards, Winnipeg is proud to host this significant forum.
