University of Winnipeg Retirees Association (UWRA)
Welcome
The University of Winnipeg Retirees Association (UWRA) was established on September 19, 2001 and now has over 150 members. Initially, the Association was formed to ensure that pensioners were represented on the University of Winnipeg Trusteed Pension Plan Board of Trustees. Today, UWRA has become much more: a unified voice to retirees; a means for continuing fellowship and communication amongst retirees; a liaison between retirees and the University; a vehicle to encourage members to donate their time and resources to appropriate University activities; and, a forum for discussions by its members on topics of interest including pension issues.
Governed by an elected Board of Directors, UWRA seeks to enrich the quality of life and promote the well-being and development of its members. All retirees of the University of Winnipeg are warmly encouraged to join and participate in the activities of UWRA. The annual fee is only $15 or our life membership category may be appealing to you -- we suspect you might well find it rewarding and beneficial to join.
Members of UWRA enjoy a wide range of activities and programs, as well as advantages that allow members to pursue on-campus interests with ease. Our monthly General Meetings are held on the first Tuesday of September, October, November, January, March and April. We hold our Annual General Meeting in February when we elect the Board of Directors for the following year. These monthly meetings provide us with an opportunity to renew old friendships, enjoy some refreshments while listening to an interesting speaker, and discuss association business. UWRA is now using E-MAIL as the primary format in which to communicate to its membership (association news, reminders, notices and events of interest). To receive these messages, members should forward their E-mail addresses to: UWRA@uwinnipeg.ca to be added to the list of recipients.
