Course Outline (or Syllabus)

If you would like to transfer credits or pursue an additional degree, you may be asked to obtain course outlines (or syllabi) for your previous work to help the University evaluate what qualifies for transfer.

You can request course outlines (or syllabi) from the Registrar's Office or the relevant academic departments at the institutions where you completed the courses.

A course outline (or syllabus) is a multi-page document that provides detailed information about a course.  It should contain the following:

  • Name of the post-secondary institution

  • Instructor's name and credentials

  • Course name/title and course number/code

  • Credit weight or contact hours for each course

  • Length of course (i.e. number of weeks)

  • Course description

  • Detailed listing of the topics to be covered and/or learning outcomes

  • Evaluation methods (e.g. assignments, tests, final exams; grading)

  • Course materials (e.g. textbooks, reading materials, other materials)
