Available Positions
Mentor
Mentors work with newcomers to help them adapt to their new home and feel more comfortable here in Canada.
- Show your student around the community and help them become acquainted with Winnipeg
- Help give your student valuable practice in English conversation
Tutor
Tutors are in very high demand at the Centre, and we welcome volunteers who can help us in any subject at high school or post-secondary level, as well as in language classes. Tutors often take on a mentorship role as well, forming close
friendships with their students and helping them to overcome the various
challenges they face every day.
- Work one-on-one with students to help them in a wide variety of subjects
- Meet with students by appointment, or as a drop-in tutor for reading and writing assignments
Outreach Volunteer
- Help staff information tables at The University of Winnipeg, and at events where The Global Welcome Centre participates
- Distribute information about The Global Welcome Centre to members of the University and surrounding community
- Accompany staff to information sessions and presentations about The Global Welcome Centre
