  • For immigrant and refugee students who wish to attend post-secondary and for whom English is not their first language
  • Taking courses offered in partnership with the English for Specific Purposes Program at The University of Winnipeg will build on what you already know, and prepare you for the demands of a university or college classroom environment

Foundations for English for Specific Purposes 2

July12 - July 26 - Monday, Tuesday, Thursday 5:30 p.m- 9:00 p.m

July 30 - August 30 - Monday, Tuesday, Thursday 6:00 p.m- 9:00 p.m

This course continues from Part I and teaches vocabulary and spelling development, speaking and listening strategies required for academic and/or day-to-day work settings. This course will also allow learners to move to other ESP courses at UW.

Prerequisites: Completion of Foundations for Specific Purposes I with a grade of  C+ or higher; or a minimum of two 7’s and two 6’s of Canadian Language Benchmark assessment.



English for Academic Writing 2

July12- July 26,2012- Monday, Tuesday, Thursday 5:30 p.m- 9:00 p.m

July 30- August 30- Monday, Tuesday, Thursday 6:00 p.m- 9:00 p.m

This course continues from Part I and teaches advanced writing for academic purposes. It focuses on the development of basic writing skills needed to succeed in post-secondary. Topics include: the writing process; paragraph writing; essay composition; and paraphrasing & summarizing academic texts.  

Prerequisites: Completion of Academic Writing Part I with a grade of  C+ or higher.
