Global College Student Advisory Council


GCSAC StudentsThe Global College Student Advisory Council is a group of University Students who work with the Global College to advance human rights centered Community/ University collaboration. The Council offers students opportunities to become actively involved in making a difference through leadership skill development, community outreach, conferences, workshops, and volunteer opportunities.

Trivia Night 2

GCSAC's 2nd Trivia Night

Participants were challenged by questions in human rights, current events, entertainment, history and places and spaces. Participation fees all went to Make Music Matter, an organization that uses "music to engage, educate and foster leadership in youth in communities affected by extreme poverty. Thanks for coming out!





Perimeter Tour of the Canadian Museum for Human Rights

A walking perimeter tour around the Canadian Museum for Human Rights! Come hear architectural facts and anecdotes about the museum! We will take a Spirit bus to the Forks.


Screening of 'Pray the Devil Back to Hell'


March 20th


GCSAC screened this thought-provoking and inspiring film on March 20th at lunch. Many found the story of the women's peace movement in Liberia created great discussion among the group

We invite you to come and hear Provincial Immigration and Multiculturalism Minister Christine Melnick, IRCOM Interim Director Adbi Ahmed and IRCOM Director of Training and Development, Noelle Depape discuss recent immigration law changes and its effects on refugees and immigrants. 


Social Justice Fair

GCSAC will be sharing a table with Global College, come check it out! 

The 6th annual Social Justice Fair is offered to all UWinnipegstudents by Menno Simons College (MSC) Student Services. The Fair serves as a venue to increase student awareness of organizations working toward social justice locally and globally and to provide aplatform for these organizations to meet students involved and interested in the same.

Come out for a night of fun at the end of term!

GCSAC will be hosting a Trivia Night! Questions will be general knowledge-based and include a few for the Human Rights/Social Justice/International Affairs specialists out there.

The King's Head will be serving up its tastiest appetizers, complimentary of the Global College.

Teams will be created at the King's Head, please arrive for 6:30 and playing will start at 7:00pm.

There will be a charge of $2 per person with the proceeds going to Winnipeg Harvest!


Global College T-shirt Design Competition

Do you enjoy design, fashion, social justice or art? Whether you're an amateur artiste or have a pastime of drawing, you can be the designer behind the first-ever The University of Winnipeg Global College t-shirt! There will be a cash prize for the winning entry as well as the opportunity to have your lovely design grace the shirts of activists, students, staff and other awesome people. The winning entry will be awarded $75!
