ACADEMIC PARTNERS


 UPeace          University for Peace

In partnership with visiting professor Dr. Amr Abdalla of UN affiliated University for Peace, the Global College hosted the summer institute on Terrorism & Transformation in the Muslim Context.


Headquartered in Costa Rica, the United Nations-mandated University for Peace was established in December 1980 as a Treaty Organization by the UN General Assembly. As determined in the Charter of the University, the mission of the University for Peace is: “to provide humanity with an international institution of higher education for peace with the aim of promoting among all human beings the spirit of understanding, tolerance and peaceful coexistence, to stimulate cooperation among peoples and to help lessen obstacles and threats to world peace and progress, in keeping with the noble aspirations proclaimed in the Charter of the United Nations.” 




  ANAK         Aksyon Ng Ating Kabataan Inc.

As a joint effort with Filipino-Manitoban members of Aksyon Ng Ating Kabataan (ANAK) Inc. - ANAK - in acknowledgment of the 50 years of immigration to Manitoba from the Philippines, the summer course Migration and Development in the Philippines, 1960-2010, was hosted by the Global College Institute for Human Rights and Global Studies.

Aksyon Ng Ating Kabataan (ANAK) Inc. is a community based organization comprised of concerned young Filipino professionals. Drawing from a gamut of personal experiences as immigrants, students, educators, social workers, researchers, and second-generation Canadians, this organization has come together to help bridge the cultural, familial, and social gaps found both in and outside of the Filipino community.

UN WOMEN       United Nations Entity for Gender Equality and
                          the Empowerment of Women


Working in partnership with the Global College Institute for International Women's Rights, UN WOMEN Winnipeg (formerly UNIFEM) hosts engaging and informative sessions with women's rights specialists.

UN WOMEN is the organization at the United Nations, dedicated to advancing women’s rights and achieving gender equality. The organization works on the premise that it is the fundamental right of every woman to live a life free from discrimination and violence, and that gender equality is essential to achieving development and to building just societies. The Winnipeg Chapter is a group of volunteers who, since 2002, have worked to raise the awareness and to educate ourselves and others about the many challenges and achievements of women today.


CW4WAfghan         Canadian Women for Women in Afghanistan


Working in partnership with the Global College Institute for International Women's Rights, the Winnipeg branch of CW4WAfghan hosts the Afghan Film Festival. 

Canadian Women for Women in Afghanistan is a volunteer not-for-profit organization founded in 1996 with twelve locations across Canada. CW4WAfghan is a non-religious, non-political, federally registered charity.  CW4WAfghan has ongoing public engagements, education and fundraising activities in Canada. These include: organizing public events; supplying speakers and making presentations to adult and youth groups; participating in local fundraising initiatives; and networking with social justice groups around the world.

The Kaicombey Foundation

 

The Kaicombey Foundation For Sustainable Development is a not-for-profit, non-political, and nongovernmental organization, established to fight and reduce child and maternal mortality by providing free and affordable medical facilities, and also public health education and training, in post war Sierra Leone and its African sub regions.
