Dear High School Student:
The University of Winnipeg Global College is pleased that the youth of this province have responded with enthusiasm to the upcoming Two Faces of Poverty Conference. Our registration reached capacity last week, and we look forward to hosting two packed days of discussion on issues of legal empowerment and poverty reduction. Please review the following information in preparation for the conference.
Conference Location & Access
All keynote speeches and workshops will be held at The University of Winnipeg, 515 Portage Avenue (campus map attached). Registration, opening remarks and most keynote speeches will be held in Convocation Hall, 2nd Floor, Wesley Hall (#17 on campus map).
There are three workshop slots during the conference. Please refer to the attached agenda for workshop titles and presenters. Room locations for workshops will be listed on the materials you receive at registration as well as on the agenda included. We will have volunteers to direct you to workshop locations please note that transition between rooms may take up to 10 minutes.
In keeping with our sustainability policies, we urge you to take public transit to and from the University. If you intend to bring a vehicle, there is metered parking on the street and at nearby lots and parkades (parking map attached).
Accessibility for registrants with special needs:
The campus map indicates points that give accessibility to campus buildings. If you are arriving by handi-transit service, we recommend that you use the Ellice Avenue entrance. We will have volunteers at this point who can guide you to the conference site.

High School Students Registration
Registration for high school students will be held from 8:00 8:30 a.m. in room 2M70 [click HERE for MAP]. This is the same room as the High School Student briefing with Dr. Axworthy prior to the regular conference start time. Refreshments will be served. Students will join the other conference guests in Convocation Hall for the Opening Ceremonies and Welcome at 10:00am.

Volunteers will be at this main conference desk throughout the conference.
An agenda is attached, and will also be included in your registration package. Please note that all workshops have limited seating and will operate on a first-come, first-served basis.
Conference Meals & Breaks
Fair-trade coffee, tea, and water will be available throughout the conference.
Monday November 3, Working Lunch 12:30 1:30
Three workshops are scheduled during this period. A brown bag lunch will be provided to participants, with vegetarian options.
Tuesday November 4, Lunch & Keynote Speech 12:00 1:15
Lunch will be served in the Bulman Centre, with vegetarian options. We will be using the catering services of Nyam Nyam Catering Worker Co-operative and Neechi Foods Co-op Ltd.
Community Feast Monday November 3
All participants of Two Faces of Poverty are invited to a community feast at the end of the first conference day. This event will be held at Thunderbird House, 715 Main Street at Higgins, from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m. (poster attached). The Circle of Law ceremony is hosted by Ka Ni Kanichick, the Assembly of Southern Chiefs, and University of Winnipeg Aboriginal Students Association.
Chartered buses will transport participants from The University of Winnipeg to Thunderbird House, and return them to the campus. Participants will be met at the university by our campus ambassadors.
