Title: Dual launch of "Centering Anishinaabeg Studies" and "Beautiful Razor"
Description: Please join us for the dual launch of Centering Anishinaabeg Studies: Understanding the
World Through Stories and Beautiful Razor: love poems & other lies at Winnipeg’s McNally Robinson Booksellers on Wednesday, April 10 at 7:00 pm.

The event will feature CAS co-editor Niigaanwewidam James Sinclair and poet Al
Hunter with special guests Jason Parenteau, Billy Jo Green, and Julie Pelletier!

About Centering Anishinaabeg Studies, edited by Niigaanwewidam James Sinclair, Jill Doerfler, and Heidi Kiiwetinepinesiik Stark:
Stories and storytelling are central to Anishinaabeg thought, history, and livelihood.
There is, however, a critical lack of understanding of this story-centered
worldview in Aboriginal studies programs that have been built within the
constructs of colonial educational institutions. Written by many of North
America’s leading Indigenous scholars and artists, Centering Anishinaabeg
Studies is a poignant and deftly crafted guide through traditional and
contemporary Anishinaabeg stories and leads the way to redefining the field of
Aboriginal studies.

Co-editor Niigaanwewidam James Sinclair (Anishinaabe) is Assistant Professor in Native Studies at the University of Manitoba. He is the co-editor (with Warren Cariou) of the bestselling Manitowapow: Aboriginal Writings from the Land of Water.
