Community Commitment

UWinnipeg will create a community charter - a binding agreement ensuring regular access and recreational programming to the inner city.

For the first time ever, community service agencies have formed a coalition to create sports leagues and programming for the UNITED Health & RecPlex, to serve inner city youth.

UWinnipeg currently supports 11 neighbourhood sports teams, that wear Wesmen colours and play in city leagues, with some of those teams winning championships. It is the goal of the University to stock its Wesmen teams with athletes from the inner city, using the UNITED Health & RecPlex as a platform to encourage education and develop post-secondary students with a confidence to dream and succeed.
