Environmental & Social Sustainability
Be Green
The University of Winnipeg is committed to sustainability in all of its policies, operations, programs and activities. In 2006, we introduced a set of environmental sustainability policies that are progressive and comprehensive in scope and depth anywhere else in Canada. We also recognize the importance of social sustainability, and are committed to conducting research and implementing new procedures and professional development materials for initiatives across the University.
Make a Difference
Over the past few years, we have been steadily working towards fostering an increased sense of global citizenship and environmental responsibility within our university community. We encourage all university students, faculty, and staff to take individual action to reduce harmful impacts on the environment.

Sustainable Campus Development
The University of Winnipeg is expanding its campus with the new Science Complex and Richardson College for the Environment. To be located on Portage Avenue between Langside and Furby streets, the complex will provide state-of-the-art laboratories, classrooms and office spaces for students in the sciences and environmental studies. As with all our new campus consturction, The Science Complex is being built to attain a Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) Silver performance rating.
