The 2009 CCDAHSS at UWinnipeg

Annual Meeting of the CCDAHSS
The University of Winnipeg, Winnipeg,
Manitoba, April 23-25, 2009

The University of Winnipeg is pleased to host the Annual Meeting of the 2009 Canadian Conference of Deans of Arts, Humanities, and Social Sciences (CCDAHSS) from Thursday, April 23, 2009 to Saturday, April 25, 2009.

Founded in 1991, the Canadian Conference of Deans of Arts, Humanities, and Social Sciences is a national association devoted to enhancing the profession and function of academic deans in the arts, humanities, and social sciences. The organization serves as a forum for discussion and cooperation among deans in universities across Canada. It also promotes teaching and scholarship in the humanities and social sciences and supports programs and initiatives dedicated to improving the understanding of the disciplines. In addition, the CCDAHSS represents the deans in interactions with governments, granting agencies, and the public.

Events planned for the 2009 CCDAHSS at the University of Winnipeg include:

  • A welcoming reception on Thursday evening;
  • A Friday evening banquet at the Winnipeg Art Gallery;
  • Several discussion panels on topics of interest to universities across Canada:
    • academic issues: the development of academic writing programs and the renewal of the Arts curriculum.
    • administrative issues: recruitment and retention, budgetary challenges and fundraising.
