DCE - Indigenous Police Preparation Diploma (IPPD)
The Indigenous Police Preparation Diploma (IPPD) Program will prepare individuals of Métis, First Nation, or Inuit descent to be successful in meeting the admission requirements of police forces across Manitoba. This full time eight month program is scheduled to run in September of each year.
LEARNING OUTCOMES
This preparatory program will focus on the academic preparation, personal wellness, and physical fitness training necessary to meet the rigorous entrance requirements for a career in law enforcement. Program graduates will be equipped for the workforce with a transferable skill set that will open up opportunities in a variety of fields including regional, municipal and tribal police forces, corrections, and Justice departments.
GRADUATION REQUIREMENTS
The Indigenous Police Preparation Diploma is comprised of 563 hours of study. Students are required to complete all courses (465 hours) and workshops (98 hours) in the program to meet graduation requirements.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
Minimum Grade
To graduate, students must receive a minimum grade of “C” in all courses.
Application for Graduation
Students must submit an “Application for Graduation” form upon completion of the program requirements. The Division of Continuing Education holds its annual graduation ceremony in October of each year. To attend this ceremony, students must submit their Application for Graduation form by August 31.
Articulation for Credit
This program is eligible for a minimum of three credit hours to a degree credit program at The University of Winnipeg.
Note: Successful completion does not guarantee acceptance to the RCMP, Winnipeg Police Service or any other law enforcement training program, nor does it guarantee employment.

Applicants must meet the following admission requirements:
1. Completion of senior matriculation (Grade 12)
2. Canadian Citizenship
3. Criminal Record Check
4. Child Abuse Registry
5. Valid Driver’s License (Class 5)
6. Current Resume
7. Physical Activity Readiness Questionnaire (PARQ)
Complete the Application for Admission form and the Par-Q, include all supporting original documentation and submit to The University of Winnipeg, 460 Portage Avenue, Winnipeg, MB. R3C 0E8.

Tuition is $7,988 inclusive of all books and materials.
Criminal Record Search can be obtained at the Public Safety Building, 4th floor - 151 Princess St. Cost: $30.50
Provincial Child Abuse Registry Check can be obtained at 102 - 114 Garry St. Cost: $10.00
Student Funding
Students may be eligible for funding through Employment Manitoba, Manitoba Student Aid, Manitoba Métis Federation or the applicants’ First Nations Educational Authority or Band.
