This course will look at how women’s lives have been traditionally represented in Canadian literature. We will look principally at the Louis Hemon’s classic novel Maria Chapdelaine and at the various women’s lives presented in the works of L.M. Montgomery. We will also examine biographies, autobiographies and journals which give insight into their lives. Students are encouraged to bring their own contributions of family stories and experiences.
