This series will explore the progress of thought in some of our most important sciences from ancient times to the present. We shall examine the thoughts of some early Muslim, Greeks and Egyptian scholars from the first millennium, and a host of western thinkers from the 1500s on. We shall meet people like Copernicus, Galileo, Bacon, Newton, French naturalists from the 1700s and 1800s, Darwin and Wallace in biology, Hutton and Lyell in geology, Mendeleev and his wizard table, Wegener and Wilson with our dynamic planetary crust, Hubble and his expanding universe and many others up to modern DNA scholars.
