General Information

Admission Requirements:

  1. Be a graduate of a Canadian High School or hold a Manitoba Grade 12 or Senior Level 4 
      equivalent including G.E.D.
OR
      Be 19 years of age or older and have completed at least one of the following conditions:
       a) two years of related work experience verified by the employer
       b) two 300 or 40S level high school courses within the last three years
       c) 90 hours of course work at a post-secondary institution

2. Submit a completed application for admission form with:
     - Application fee of $50.00   
     - Original educational documents and transcripts

Transfer Credits

Students may be eligible to receive credit for graded course work completed at another accredited educational institution within the past five years. The $25 administrative fee per course is waived when students submit their transfer credit requests at the time of program application. Eligibility for transfer credit is conditional to program acceptance and may be subject to residency or program restrictions.

Prior Learning Assessment and Recognition (PLAR)

PLAR is a system of evaluating and granting credit to individuals who demonstrate learning equivalent to that acquired upon completion of a course. Students may have acquired this through a number of sources: self-directed study, dated educational course work updated through practical application or on-the-job learning. Program Residency

Students must complete two-thirds of the program requirements with the University of Winnipeg, Division of Continuing Education courses in order to be eligible for graduation.

Minimum Grade

Students must receive a minimum grade of “C” or better in all courses within the program requirements to graduate.

Graduation

Students must submit an Application for Graduation form upon completion of their program requirements.  The Division of Continuing Education will process a certificate or diploma once the University of Winnipeg Senate has approved the application. Please note that DCE forwards graduation applications to the UofW Senate three times per year. Graduation applications may take up to six weeks to be processed

The Division of Continuing Education will be celebrating its Annual Graduation Ceremony in October 2011. Students must submit an Application for Graduation form by August 15, 2011 to attend this ceremony. Application for Graduation forms are available from the Registration Office or download the Graduation Application
