Human Resource Management Diploma Program (full-time)

The UWDCE Human Resource Management Diploma is the highest HR educational credential in Manitoba, outside of a Business degree. THIS PROGRAM WILL PREPARE STUDENTS TO:

  • Work in a variety of human resource positions and be able to assume greater levels of responsibility as they grow in their human resource capability.
  • Understand and comply with the employer's legislative and legal obligations including workplace health and safety regulation, WHMIS legislation, the Worker's Compensation Act, payroll compliance legislation, and employment standards.
  • Conduct organizational needs assessments, analyze and modify organizational staff development plans and develop effective recruitment strategies to attract talent that satisfies the organizational objectives.
  • Foster a work environment that promotes productivity and employee satisfaction
  • Evaluate performance and communicate performance issues in a manner that encourages responsible and corrective action and manage disciplinary action proactively and thoroughly.
  • Understand the elements of a total compensation package that align with an organizational recruitment and retention strategy, develop compensation policies and procedures, procure benefits, and analyze employee and organizational pension requirements.
  • Exercise sound financial decision-making and budgeting skills.
  • Write the Certified Human Resource Professional (CHRP) Knowledge-Based Exam.

Academic Credentials

Upon completion of this program, students will earn two valuable educational credentials, the Human Resource Management Diploma and the Management Certificate.


Articulation for Credit

Graduates of the full-time Human Resource Management Diploma Program may be eligible for up to a maximum of 36 hours of credit for the following course equivalents when pursuing a degree at the University of Winnipeg:

Articulated as equivalent credit:

  • Introduction to Business l (BUS-1201/3)
  • Fundamentals of Organizational Behaviour (BUS-2103/3)
  • Fundamentals Human Resource Management (BUS-2440/3)
  • Financial Management and Administration (BUS-2010/3)

Articulated as unallocated credit:

  • 6 hours of credit to BUS-1000
  • 3 hours of credit to BUS-2000
  • 15 hours of credit to BUS-3000
The Human Resource Management Association of Manitoba (HRMAM) holds Certified Human Resource   Practitioner (CHRP) examinations twice annually.  For more information on the designation process and the exam dates please contact the HRMAM at 204.943.2836.


Program Fees

Full-time programs fees include the admission fee, course tuition fees, and memberships in the Human Resource Management Association of Manitoba and the Canadian Payroll Association.

Internship

All full-time Professional Studies Programs include an internship opportunity. The internship will help you develop a working portfolio and gain tangible work experience.
