Centre for Teaching, Learning & Technology (CTLT)
LMS Migration Project
Overview
The University of Winnipeg has chosen Desire2Learn as the new Learning Management System (LMS) to replace outdated versions of WebCT and Learn (Sakai).
In Fall 2010, a committee was struck to review the state of our current LMS systems. The Committee consisted of faculty across various disciplines and technology staff members, with the goal of selecting a new LMS that would meet the current and future needs of the University. After a lengthy review process, the Committee unanimously chose Desire2Learn, a Canadian provider of enterprise teaching and learning platforms.

Starting with Spring Term
(April 2012), nexus will be the new and only Learning Management System
available for University courses.
Six faculty members piloted
nexus for their courses during the current Winter term (January 2012 to
April 2012) in preparation for the Spring University wide rollout. These faculty
members will share their pilot experiences; they will present and discuss their
course designs, teaching experiences, and student reactions to the new LMS. The
information shared at this session will help others gain a better understanding
of how to use nexus in a variety of course designs and class
sizes.
There will be three sessions
throughout the morning:
9:00 am - 9:50 am - Course
presentations
10:00 am - 10:50 am - Panel discussion
