Course Design/Development

The CTLT will work with instructors to creatively balance course assessment and personal teaching methodologies with course specific learning outcomes.

The Centre offers assistance to instructors in the following areas:

Design

  • Evaluating  course materials and, when advantageous, suggest alternative delivery methods that fully engage students
  • Assisting instructors in designing convenient and effective classroom and online interactions
  • Developing  practical solutions that address instructor concerns and strategies in order to take advantage of opportunities in a specific course
  • Supporting instructors in the design of a new course or the redesign of a course  previously taught
  • Focusing on the various elements of course design, and the teaching and learning process in a discipline specific context 
  • Considering the course design from a student perspective
   
Develop
  • Developing learning experiences that require higher-order thinking skills
  • Developing action plans to carry out course designs.
  • Providing guidance and collaborative problem-solving  
  • Ensuring that  instruction is accessible and memorable
  • Effectively incorporating technology into classroom instruction, including the effective and efficient designing of face-to-face, blended, and online courses
  • Generating meaningful interactions with and among learners, even in large classrooms
  • Ensuring that instruction is stimulating and relevant
  • Incorporating diverse learning styles of students
