Philosophy of Counselling:

My work with students involves supporting and encouraging them to deepen their understanding of themselves, their relationship with self and others, their values and goals in all aspects of their lives. I believe that deepening understanding and practice of curiosity with self and compassion towards self can impact people in small to really big ways. I also practice curiosity and active learning to deepen my personal awareness of the greater social context that we live within and how that impacts us as individuals and our relationships and communities. I believe it is important to be aware and sensitive to social location, discourse, and remain reflexive in all aspects of my life.

Quotes I keep close:

  • “The difficult road is the road of conversion, the conversion from loneliness into solitude. Instead of running away from our loneliness and trying to forget or deny it, we have to protect it and turn it into fruitful solitude…loneliness is painful; solitude is peaceful. Loneliness makes us cling to others in desperation; solitude allows us to respect others in their uniqueness and create community.” – Henri Nouwen

  • “We must make certain our path is connected with our heart.” – bell hooks
