Aboriginal Governance & Globalization Symposium
Thursday, January 31 - Saturday, February 2, 2008
The University of Winnipeg and The National Centre for First Nations Governance are proud to host an Aboriginal Governance and Globalization Symposium from Thursday, January 31, 2008 to Saturday, February 2, 2008.
This event is a component of a Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council Aid to Small Universities grant that provided support for innovative research in Aboriginal Governance and Social Justice in the Age of Globalization. During the symposium, faculty will share their research findings on these topics with the general public. Two internationally acclaimed keynote speakers will be in attendance to address the gathering: Mr. Herb George (Satsan), President, National Centre for First Nations Governance; and Dr. Ronni Alexander, Professor, Kobe University, Graduate School of International Cooperation Studies.
This symposium also features the involvement of youth from our surrounding community. Local students are invited to participate in Youth Open Space Technology sessions, organized by the National Centre for First Nations Governance. The open space in Open Space Technology derives from the fact that a circle structure of gathering tends to create greater openness in communications amongst participants. Students have the opportunity to present their thoughts and findings on the final day of the symposium.
Everyone is welcome to attend at no charge.
