Cinema Politica at the University of Winnipeg
In partnership with The UWSA, Gallery 1C03 is pleased to be part of the international documentary screening network, Cinema Politica, as the first Manitoban chapter through the formation ofCinema Politica at The University of Winnipeg
Together we screened several socially and politically resonant films on campus over the course of the 2012-13 academic season.
CP at The University of Winnipeg strives to engage students through creative and critical thinking via the medium of media art. CP at UW is a vehicle which helps Gallery 1C03 & UWSA grow its relationships with students, faculty and staff on campus, as well as with the surrounding community. Watching films about issues that matter and taking time to talk about them and plan actions can move us to a more equitable and sustainable world. Art and culture matter and the capacity for creative documentaries to inspire and challenge us is a testament to this fact.
Featured films are typically selected by students affiliated with the UWSA's on-campus service groups. On occasion we will partner with other campus groups for additional film screenings. We invite special guests from on and off campus to facilitate discussions after our screenings.
Screenings are always free and open to everyone. We do, however, accept donations to offset costs.
