WESMEN 86 Brandon 55WESMEN COAST OVER WINLESS BOBCATS
The Wesmen ended a two game losing skid in a big way defeating the winless Brandon Bobcats 86-55 Thursday night in Brandon. Fifth year guard Uzo Asagwara led the way for Winnipeg scoring 24 points in only 21 minutes of playing time. Second year guard Randie Gibson connected for five-three pointers on her way to scoring 17 points. The game's outcome was never in doubt with the Wesmen leading 22-9 after the first quarter and expanding their lead to 50-26 at halftime. In the second half Wesmen Head Coach Tanya McKay gave her starters a break and gave her bench ample playing time. Each player on the court played at least 10 minutes in the game. The Bobcats were led by rookie forward Melanie Thompson who scored 21 points. The victory improves the Wesmen's record to 5-4, while the Bobcats remain winless at 0-9. The two teams will meet Saturday night at the Duckworth Centre in Winnipeg. Game time is 6:15 p.m.

WESMEN 76 Brandon 75NASAJPOURS LAST SECOND HEROICS LIFT WESMEN PAST BRANDON
The "heart and soul" of the Wesmen came thru in a clutch once again. Erfan Nasajpour nailed an off balance jumper with 2.5 seconds left to give the Wesmen a thrilling 76-75 win over the Brandon Bobcats Thursday night in Brandon. The Wesmen did look to have control at the tail end of the game, leading 74-69 with just under two minutes to play the Wesmen got sloppy and turned the ball over on two occassions leading to back-to-back Yul Michel baskets that closed the gap to 74-73. Winnipeg was unable to answer the baskets and on their next possession the Bobcats Dany Charlery hit a running jumper with 37 seconds left to give Brandon a 75-74 lead. After Bobcat guard Chad Jacobson missed the front end of a 1 and 1 situation, Nasajpour calmy set up the offence for his game winning basket. Five Wesmen players scored in double digits led by Nasajpour who finished with 20 points, 10 assists, and eight steals. Nic Lother finished with 13 points, including two big three pointers down the stretch. Ivan Saric scored 11 points while Ryan Roper and Dan Shynkaryk eached scored 10 points. Fourth year guard Yul Michel led the Bobcats with 19 points. The win moves the Wesmens record to 4-5 and Brandon drops to 7-2. The two teams will meet again for the rematch on Saturday night at the Duckworth Centre in Winnipeg. Game time is 8:00 p.m. and will be carried live on 1290 CFRW with Paul Edmonds and Steve Thompson.

Langley British Columbia. Nicola Dirks led the Wesmen with seven kills
and Shanti Plett was the leader on defense with 15 digs. "It was not
pretty, but tomorrow is another day", said Head Coach Diane Scott. The
Wesmen fall to 1-9 on the season. The two teams will meet Saturday night
at 6:00 p.m. (wpg time) to conclude the weekend series.

WESMEN 61 Brandon 49WESMEN SWEEP SERIES AGAINST WINLESS BOBCATS
The Winnipeg Wesmen co0mpleted a sweep of a home and home series by defeating the Brandon Bobcats 61-49 Saturday night at the Duckworth Centre in Winnipeg. The Wesmen were playing without fifth year star and Canada West scoring leader Uzo Asagwara who was sitting this game out with the flu. Jenny Ezirim led the Wesmen with 14 points and an amazing 12 steals. Former Bobcat Nina Adusei was strong on the boards finishing with eight rebounds. First year forward Melanie Thompson led Brandon with 14 points. The first half featured both teams struggling with their shooting with both teams shooting in the 30% range in the first half. The Wesmen led at halftime 29-20. Winnipeg put the game out of reach in the third quarter outscoring Brandon 23-9 to take a 52-29 lead after three quarters. The Bobcats did rally in the fourth quarter but it was a little too late as the Wesmen came out on top. The victory improves Winnipeg's record to 6-4 at the half way point of the season. Brandon remains winless at 0-10. The Wesmen will travel to Newfoundland for a pair of exhibition games at the end of December before resuming their Canada West regular season schedule on January 4th when they visit the University of Manitoba Bisons.

WESMEN 69 Brandon 74HOT SHOOTING BOBCATS UPEND WESMEN
The Brandon Bobcats hit key shots when they needed to as they went on to defeat the Winnipeg Wesmen 74-69 Saturday night at the Duckworth Centre in Winnipeg. The Bobcats shot 53% from the field compared to 42% for the Wesmen. Erfan Nasajpour led the Wesmen with 21 points and 11 assists. Ivan Saric also had a double-double scoring 18 points and adding 14 rebounds. The Bobcats were led by Adam Hartman who scored a game high 25 points and added 10 rebounds. The first half was evenly played with both teams matching each other basket for basket. The bobcats went into the locker room at halftime leasding 36-34. In the second half the Wesmen were able to stay close and took their first lead in a long time at 52-51 midway thru the half. Brandon was able to keep the pressure on the Wesmen and even forced Nasajpour to the bemch with four fouls just past the midway point of the half. The Wesmen pulled to within a point at 68-67, when on the next play Dan Shynkaryk picked up his fifth foul and was forced to leave the game. Brandon was able to hit their free throws down the stretch and leave Winnipeg with the victory. The loss leaves Winnipeg with a 4-6 record at the break, while the Bobcats improve to a Great Plains Division leading 8-2. The Wesmen will next bsee action at the end of December in the 40th Annual Wesmen Classic.

WESMEN PUT IN EFFORT BUT FALL TO SPARTANSThe Wesmen put in a better effort but were defeated 3-0 (25-19, 25-16, 25-15 by the Trinity Western University Spartans Saturday night in Langley, British Columbia. 'We put in a better effort and played with a great attitude", said Head Coach Diane Scott. Nicola Dirks led the Wesmen with 13 kills. Jayme Menzies contributed 7 kills and 11 digs. The loss drops the Wesmens record to 1-10. The team will now break until January when they travel to Toronto for the University of Toronto Invitational Tournament.
