NICOLA DIRKS NAMED CANADA WEST ALL STAR
Tuesday, February 20, 2007- The University of Winnipeg and the Canada West Universities Athletic Association would like to announce that female volleyball star Nicola Dirks has been named to the Canada West Women’s Volleyball First All-Star Team.
Dirks, a fourth year left side led the CIS in total kills (348) and total points (376). Nicola was named the University of Winnipeg Female Athlete of the Week five times during the 2006-07 season. Nicola, the team captain recorded a Canada West Conference season high 29 kills on two occasions this past season and also recorded 20 plus kills in seven matches during the season. She was also named to the tournament all-star team at the Lea Marc Volleyball Challenge and the University of Toronto Invitational Tournament.
Dirks, is a three time Academic All-Canadian who presently maintains a 4.25 GPA. In 2005-06 she was named to the Canada West Second All-Star Team and was a 2005-06 All-Canadian honorable mention.
