WESMEN GONDOLA PIZZA PLAYERS OF THE WEEK

Erfan Nasajpour, mens Basketball - Erfan was named tournament MVP and all-star at this past weekends Midway Chrysler invitational tournament. Nasajpour avaraged 16 points in two games to lead the Wesmen to a perfect 2-0 record at the tournament.

The University of Winnipeg will be presenting the Radisson Women in Sport Breakfast on Tuesday, December 5th, 2006 from 7:15 a.m. - 8:30 a.m. at the Radisson Hotel Winnipeg 288 Portage Avenue. WESMEN IN THE COMMUNITY 

The Winnipeg Police Services and hundreds of Winnipeg School Patrol were special guests of the Winnipeg Wesmen at Saturday Game vs. Jamestown at the Midway Chrysler Tournament.

MEN'S BASKETBALL 

The Wesmen team finished with a perfect 2-0 record to capture the Midway Chrysler Tournament title. On Friday the Wesmen defeated Lakehead University 76-57. Dan Shynkaryk led the Wesmen with 19 points and Erfan Nasajpour added 13 points in the Victory. On Saturday the team continued their winning ways defeating Jamestown College 71-58. Erfan Nasajpour led the way with 19 points and 6 assists. Erfan Nasajpoiur was named both tournament MVP and All-Star, Dan Shynkaryk was name also named a tournament All-Star. Dave Crook and his team will wrap up their pre-schedule at this weekends University of Manitoba Invitational Tournament.

WOMEN'S BASKETBALL

Head Coach Tanya McKay and her team are busy preparing for their next preseason games coming up on Saturday October 28 and Saturday October 29 when the team travels to Bismarck, North Dakota to take on the University of Mary. The Wesmen will open up the regular season on Thursday, November 2nd as they play host to their cross-town rivals the University of Manitoba Bisons.

MEN'S VOLLEYBALL

Head Coach Larry McKay and the Mens Volleyabll team finished with a 2-2 record at this past weekends Manitoba Invitational Tournament. In Fridays opening match the Wesmen were defeated 3-1(25-17,16-25,25-21,28-26) by Dalhousie. Ben Schellenberg had 24 kills, and Jon Kasdorf 17 defensive digs. The Wesmen rebounded with a 3-1(25-19,21-25,27-25-,25-22) victory over Manitoba on Friday night. Fourth year outside Marty Rochon had 13 kills and Ben Schellenberg had 7 blocks, On Saturday the Wesmen defeated Ryerson 3-2(29-31,25-21,21-25,25-20,15-10) in a very tough match. Ben Schellenberg lead the way for the Wesmen once again with 21 kills and fourth year setter Dustin Addison-Schneider had 5 blocks. In the teams final match of the tournament the Wesmen were swept 3-0(25-19,25-20,25-13) by the Alberta Golden Bears. First year outside Micheal Mallin had 8 kills for the Wesmen. Fourth year player Richard Wiebe was named to the Tournament All-Star Team. The Wesmen will now be preparing for the 2006-2007 Canada West regular season home opener this weekend again the UBC Thundebirds.

WOMEN'S VOLLEYBALL

Head Coach Diane Scott and her team have completed their pre-season schedule. The team is now practicing hard both on and off the court in preparation for the opening of the 2006-07 Canada West regular season This weekend when the Wesmen play host to the UBC Thunderbirds.
