WIEBE, ADDISON-SCHNEIDER, SCHELLENBERG NAMED CANADA WEST ALL-STARS
Wednesday, February 21, 2007- The University of Winnipeg and the Canada West Universities Athletic Association would like to announce the naming of Richard Wiebe, Dustin Addison-Schneider and Ben Schellenberg to the 2006-07 Canada West Men’s Volleyball All-Star Teams.
Named as a first team All-Star was fifth year outside Richard Wiebe, Wiebe was a steady force for the Wesmen team all-season long. Wiebe placed second on the team in kills (209) and placed in the top ten in the Canada West conference with a hitting percentage of .341. Wiebe’s efforts earned him University of Winnipeg Male Athlete of the Week two times during the season.
Named as second team all-stars were setter Dustin Addison-Schneider and opposite Ben Schellenberg.
Addison- Schneider , a fourth year setter finished second in the Canada West conference in assists (10.18 apg, 810 total). Dustin recorded a Canada West high 59 assists in a match against Manitoba (January 24, 2007). Addison-Schneider led the conference in assist during the 2005-06 season. Named as an Academic All-Canadian last year and was also a member of the 2003-04 Canada West All-Rookie team.
Schellenberg, a fourth year opposite and team captain continued to put fear in opposing players finishing with 213 kills and an impressive hitting percentage of .405, fourth best in the conference. Schellenberg was named to the Canada West first all-star team and was also selected as a second team All-Canadian last season. Schellenberg, the 2006 University of Winnipeg Male Athlete of the Year has been an Academic All-Canadian for three straight years.
