WESMEN ALUMNI JAIME HICKSON LANDS FIRST CIS HEAD COACHING POSITION
Monday, June 26, 2006- The University of Winnipeg Wesmen would like to congratulate Jaime Hickson on her first CIS head coaching position as she was appointed the Head Coach of the Brandon University Women’s Basketball Program at a press conference held earlier today in Brandon.
Jamie is no stranger to CIS basketball as she was part of the Wesmen Women’s basketball team coaching staff for five years (1999-2004). She was promoted to one of Tanya McKay’s assistant coaches for her final three years with the Wesmen. Hickson was also an assistant coach with the women’s team at the University of Victoria for the 2004-05 season. Hickson, most recently was the head coach of the women’s basketball program at the Canadian Mennonite University.
"Jaime is motivated, determined, and excited about coaching at Brandon University. She will do what ever it takes to get Brandon on the map for women's basketball in the CIS. She has worked very hard over the last six years to put herself in the position she is in. Our program wishes her all the best in her new job", said Tanya McKay, Head Coach Wesmen Women’s Basketball team.
Hickson will officially take over the position effective July 10, 2006.
