MEN'S VOLLEYBALL PLAYER HONORED WITH CAP AWARD

Wednesday, November 21, 2007 - The University of Winnipeg Wesmen would like to congratulate men’s volleyball player Emory Wells for being named as one of the recipients of the CAP(Congress of Aboriginal Peoples) Aboriginal Youth Achievement Award in the sport category.

Wells, is currently in his first season as a member of the University of Winnipeg Wesmen Men’s Volleyball team. Emory is from the Brokenhead First Nation located near Winnipeg and besides volleyball also excels in hockey and baseball.

 An exceptional student, Emory graduated with honors from Miles MacDonnell High School and was named his graduating class valedictorian. His exceptional work in the classroom earned Emory the Dale Iwanoczko and Todd Davidson Memorial Scholarships.

Wells was also honored earlier this year with the 2006 Tom Longboat Award as Manitoba’s Aboriginal Male Athlete of the Year.

A gifted athlete, Emory was the recipient of the Dennis Nord Award as the Manitoba Volleyball Association Graduating Player of the Year.
