VOLLEYBALL STAR NICOLA DIRKS NAMED ALL-CANADIAN
Wednesday, February 28, 2007- The University of Winnipeg and the Canadian Interuniversity Sport would like to announce that Wesmen women’s volleyball star Nicola Dirks has been named to the CIS Women’s Volleyball Second All-Canadian Team at the CIS Women’s Volleyball Championship banquet in Calgary this evening
Dirks, was named a First Team Canada West All-Star last week. Dirks, a fourth year left side led the CIS in total kills (348) and total points (376). During the 2006-07 season she was named the University of Winnipeg Female Athlete of the Week five times. Nicola, a fourth year left side and team captain recorded a Canada West Conference high 29 kills on two occasions this past season and recorded 20 plus kills in seven matches during the regular season.
Dirks, a three time Academic All-Canadian who presently maintains a 4.25 GPA. In 2005-06 she was named to the Canada West Second All-Star Team and was a 2005-06 All-Canadian honorable mention.
