Biography:

Dr. Glen Bergeron holds a BPE (University Of Manitoba); M.Sc. (University of Alberta); and a PhD (University of Manitoba).

Bergeron is Associate professor in the Department of Physical Activity and Sport Studies at The University of Winnipeg responsible for the Athletic Therapy Curriculum. He graduated from the University of Manitoba with a Bachelor of Physical Education in 1973 and a Master’s of Science from the University of Alberta in 1978. Bergeron completed his PhD in the Department of Anatomy at the University of Manitoba in 1992.

He certified with the Canadian Athletic Therapists Association (CATA) in 1975. For eight years he served as an executive member of the CATA, four of those as President. He was also a founding member of the Manitoba Athletic Therapists Association and was the first President of the Sport Medicine Council of Manitoba.

Bergeron was the Head Athletic Therapist at the University of Winnipeg for ten years prior to accepting a position as Director of Athletic Therapy at the University of Manitoba in 1987. In 1996, Glen returned to his present position at The University of Winnipeg.

Bergeron brings with him a wealth of clinical skills and experiences at the university, professional, national and international levels including his selection to the Canadian Medical Team for the 1988 Winter Olympics in Calgary, Chief Therapist for the 1990 Western Canada Summer Games, the 1992 Summer Olympics in Barcelona, the 1995 World Cross Country Running Championships in Durham England, and the Chief Therapist for the 1995 World University Games in Japan. Bergeron was also a member of the organizing committee for the 1999 Pan Am Games in Winnipeg.
