War-Affected Children
Two Steps Forward:
Looking Back & Facing the Future
September 9 & 10, 2005
Does the United Nation’s Convention on the Rights of the Child make any difference?
Is Canada’s foreign policy doing it all can to stop the use of child soldiers?
Does Canada’s domestic policy do all it can to help refugees and immigrants dealing with the long-term effects if growing up in a war-zone?
Join with educators, policy makers, filmmakers, researchers, members of the immigrant and refugee communities, war-affected children, and youth to consider how to make this a century of peace in which the rights of the child are globally respected, protected, and promoted.
Take in a unique film festival during Quest and the Manitoban premiere of Peacekeepers, an NFB documentary shot in the Democratic Republic of Congo & the United Nations headquarters in New York. The free public premiere takes place September 9 - learn more.
